AXIS Art Advisory is a boutique consultancy lead by John S Foster, specializing in the strategic guidance of both acquisitions and sale of works of art. The Advisory specializes in Post-War and Contemporary art in paintings, prints and sculpture with additional expertise in Impressionist and Modern Art as well as American Art.
Through conversation, the needs of the client are assessed in a clear arrangement to meet the goal at hand. Whether it is a client eager for an introductory first purchase or an avid, seasoned collector, John will devise an astute plan of action.
As a former Vice President of Christie’s International Auction House, he has for over 16 years assisted numerous high profile clients and institutions in both acquisitions and deaccessions. He serves on several Boards, including the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, the Rose Art Museum, the Boston Conservatory at Berklee and the Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine.
John has Bachelor’s Degree in English and American Literature from Brandeis University and a Master of Arts in Art History from Boston University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
